The Broadway Artists Connection most recent social event “Open Mic & Mingle” took place on April 6th, 2014 7-9pm at the Nuyorican Poet’s Café (236 E. 3rd St, New York, NY 10009), featured an evening packed with an array of performances of accomplished Broadway artists and very talented performers, who are just starting their careers.

New York City, New York – April 11, 2014 – The event was hosted by 7 time Broadway Vet, Drama Desk Nominee and TV actor John Bolton, accompanied by the great Brad Ross, with performances of two-time Tony Nominee Reg E. Gaines, Jessica McRoberts, Happy McPartlin, Joan Barber, Matt Dotzman, Jennifer Sanchez, D’Vorah Bailey and Kirsten Beth Williams, among many talented newcomers.

“Artists, that is what we were last night”, says Joan Barber (FOLLIES, SOUND OF MUSIC, BIG, BEAUTY & THE BEAST). “We celebrated together, young and seasoned. From all parts of the Broadway community, we were inspired to share the best of ourselves.”

The atmosphere was supportive and fun with a remarkable audience, who got to witness exciting, moving and surprising performances. A highlight of the event was Phyllis Gaines’ sign language performance. Her organization SIGN OF DA TIMES is committed to bringing music to the deaf and is now under consideration to be the Broadway Artists Connection fundraiser recipient.

“Inspiring – this is the first word that comes to my mind to describe the evening”, says Matt Dotzman (BEAUTY & THE BEAST). “I am grateful to have found the Broadway Artist Connection, and look forward to becoming an active member of its community. Last night’s event was so much fun that I cannot wait until September.”

BAC events prove to be a place where artists can strengthen important relationships in the industry, have opportunities to perform new works and also give “BAC” to their communities.
