Joseph Macchia steps into the role of Producing Director for the Broadway Artists Connection 2015 NYC Season

After an extensive search, the Broadway Artists Connectionn (BAC) welcomes cabaret powerhouse Joseph Macchia into the role of Producing Director for the 2015 NYC Season.   With 20 years of industry experience, Joseph’s producing has earned him four MAC awards and one Bistro Award.  Joseph is the Booking Manager of of the Metropolitan Room that just days ago broke the Guinness book of world records for longest variety show ever.  Joseph has received a BWW award for best variety show or recurring series for Cabaret Cares, a series he spearheaded benefiting BCEFA and listed him as one of the top 25 people to watch out for in cabaret in 2015.

Joseph will be producing the Broadway Artists and Friends Open Mic Series as well as benefit performances to help local communities, adding more events to BAC 2015 calendar.  The open mic series provides Broadway Artists opportunities to try out new works in an intimate cabaret setting while inviting in select aspiring artists to also perform and make invaluable industry connections.  “One of the ways the Broadway Artists Connection gives back to the community is by helping the next generation of artists to get exposure,” states Tamlyn Brooke Orlando, BAC founder.  This series launched in 2014 became an instant hit.  “With Joseph at the helm, I’m confident we can serve more artists this year and grow this program.”

“I have spent many years working on events with performers from the Broadway community,” states Joseph who is also the producer of the cabaret series New York’s Next Top Drag Queen, Gone Too Soon, and Broadway on 22nd Street. “When I heard of the position at Broadway Artists Connection and found out how the organization allows Broadway performers and up and coming performers to showcase their talents so that they can grow as artists while raising money to help those in need, I was immediately intrigued. I knew I wanted to become more involved and bring my own background into the organization to help it grow further.”

The Broadway Artists Connection was founded in 2008 and has been producing more events each year.  To date, BAC shows have featured over 75 Broadway performers, dozens of aspiring artists and raised thousands of dollars for our community charities.  In addition to the creative sparks resulting from these events, the connection itself has led to several jobs, gigs and opportunities for the artists.  This year Founder Tamlyn Brooke Orlando is expanding BAC into other markets in California while Joseph produces the NYC season.  “My goal is to have the largest network of Broadway Artists helping each other and those in need, a forum to hone their craft as performing artists and the ability give back to our communities,” states Tamlyn.  “We are thrilled to have Joseph, who’s record with producing and fundraising is outstanding, join our team.”
