Doreen Montalvo hosts the Broadway Artist Connection Open Mic Series Kick Off event at the Nuyorian Poets Cafe March 1st

Monday, February 16th 2015 – The Broadway Artists Connection (BAC) 2015 Season will kick of on Sunday, March 1st (7pm) at the Nuyorican Poets Café (236 E 3rd St) with a stellar line up of the industries best.  Hosted by Drama Desk Award Winner Doreen Montalvo (IN THE HEIGHTS original cast), the line up includes Peter Gregus (JERSEY BOYS, CONTACT, AINT BWAY GRAND),  Arbender Robinson (LES MISERABLES, BEAUTIFUL, HAIR, BOOK OF MORMON, & more), Alicia Taylor Tomasko (IN THE HEIGHTS), Kristen Beth Williams (PIPPIN, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, ANYTHING GOES), Richard E Waitts (DREAMGIRLS) with Brad Ross on the keys.

The mic then opens to aspiring artists, one of whom will be crowned the “Future of Broadway” by Wojcik-Seay Casting Associate Erin Denmen and invited to sing in the BAC All Stars Open Mic on Nov. 22nd to compete for a cash prize.  The evening allows time for artists and audience to mingle, making invaluable industry connections.  Additional Broadway Artists & Friends Open Mic Nights will be held on Monday, April 27th and Monday September 27th.  The entire season is produced by MAC award winner Joseph Macchia.  Participants wanting to sing must reserve a spot by emailing

The Broadway Artists Connection founded in 2008 by Tamlyn Brooke Orlando, brings together Broadway Artists and enthusiasts to create, connect and share their talents for the greater good of our communities.  Any proceeds of the four open mic events will go toward the BAC fundraiser events. BAC is committed to helping the community and has raised thousands of dollars for their charity partners.

The Broadway Artists Connection – BAC brings together Broadway artists & enthusiasts to create, connect and share their talents for the greater good of our communities.   Founded in 2008, BAC shows have featured over 75 Broadway Artists, dozens of aspiring artists and raised thousands of dollars for charities.  Previous charity partners include Rosie’s Theatre Kids and CAT Youth Theatre.

The Nuyorican Poets Cafe – Over the last 40 years, the Nuyorican Poets Cafe has served as a home for groundbreaking works of poetry, music, theater and visual arts. A multicultural and multi-arts institution, located at 236 E 3rd Street, the Cafe gives voice to a diverse group of rising poets, actors, filmmakers and musicians who have not yet found consistent havens for their work.
